The General Dynamics F-111 played a pivotal role in numerous military operations throughout its service life, earning a distinguished place in modern air power history. This portfolio presents a gallery of aircraft profiles organized into thematic series, each dedicated to a specific combat action, campaign, or operation in which the F-111 participated, or another pivotal event in the F-111's service life . Within these series, individual profiles focus on particular airframes, exploring their unique histories, combat service, crews, and  the missions they flew. Together, these works seek to document not only the aircraft itself, but also the stories of the people, machines, and operations that shaped the F-111's enduring legacy.

Series 1: The Boss Birds

This collection presents a series of F-111 wing flagship aircraft representing the 20th, 27th, 48th, 366th, and 474th Tactical Fighter Wings from 1969 through 1997. Each profile combines a historically accurate illustration of the wing's flagship with carefully recreated wing and squadron insignia associated with its assignment and period of service. Accompanying captions document the history of the individual airframe, including notable assignments, operational service, and significant milestones. Together, these profiles preserve and commemorate the heritage of the

F-111 and the units that operated it throughout nearly three decades of distinguished service.

Series 2: Vietnam

This collection documents the combat service of the F-111 in Southeast Asia, featuring aircraft that participated in Operations Combat Lancer, Constant Guard V, and Linebacker II. Detailed captions provide the history of the individual airframe and its operational employment, placing each aircraft within the broader context of the F-111’s wartime service. Together, these profiles commemorate the aircraft, aircrews, and organizations that demonstrated the F-111’s unique capabilities and helped establish its reputation as one of the most effective tactical strike aircraft of the Vietnam War.

Series 3: Eldorado Canyon

This collection commemorates the F-111’s participation in Operation El Dorado Canyon, the April 1986 strike against targets in Libya. Each profile presents a historically accurate illustration of a specific aircraft that took part in the operation, accompanied by recreated unit insignia representative of its assignment and period of service. Detailed captions document the history of the individual airframe and its role in the mission, placing each aircraft within the broader context of the longest-range tactical strike operations conducted to that date. In addition to the aircraft profiles, the series includes reproductions of morale patches associated with the campaign, preserving the distinctive artwork and esprit de corps of the aircrews and support personnel who executed the mission. Together, these profiles and accompanying insignia commemorate the aircraft, personnel, and organizations that contributed to the success of Operation El Dorado Canyon and the enduring legacy of the F-111.

Instead of the usual caption style that accompanies the other F-111 profile series, this series includes a poem composed by the artist.

Series 7: The Bicentennial Birds

With America preparing to celebrate its 250th birthday, I found myself thinking back to the Bicentennial of 1976 and the aircraft that proudly carried our nation's colors during that historic year. These three F-111 profiles pay tribute to those commemorative aircraft, combining their unique Bicentennial markings with period insignia and selected excerpts from President Gerald R. Ford's Bicentennial messages. More than just aircraft profiles, I hope these prints serve as a small tribute to the men and women who flew and maintained these remarkable airplanes—and to a moment when an entire nation paused to celebrate its history while looking confidently toward the future.

Series 6: Peace Was our profession

This collection commemorates the Strategic Air Command service of the FB-111A, an aircraft designed to stand on constant alert during one of the most dangerous periods of the Cold War. Featuring aircraft selected to represent the operational history of the type across its SAC assignments, each profile presents a historically accurate illustration of a specific airframe accompanied by recreated unit insignia representative of its assignment and period of service. Detailed captions document the history of the individual aircraft and its operational employment, placing each airframe within the broader context of the nuclear deterrent mission that helped preserve peace through strength.

In addition to the aircraft profiles, the series includes reproductions of Strategic Air Command emblems, wing insignia, alert force markings, and other artwork associated with the FB-111A's service. Together, these profiles and accompanying insignia commemorate the aircraft, the aircrews, maintenance personnel, missileers, security forces, and support organizations whose unwavering readiness formed a vital component of America's strategic deterrent. Though they never flew the combat missions for which they trained, their constant vigilance embodied the principle that gave the collection its name: Peace Was Their Profession.
